Kathmandu, July 8
A CPN-Unified Socialist leader has been arrested on the rape charge in the Dhading district, west of Kathmandu.
Tika Ram Nepali (32), a resident of the Nilakantha municipality-14 of Dhading, has been arrested for raping his former girlfriend, according to police. He is the Unified Socialist party’s district committee member.
SSP Dinesh Raj Mainali of the Kathmandu District Police Range says Nepali was arrested at a hotel in Thamel of Kathmandu on Thursday evening.
It has been learned that the survivor had shared the incident with her close friend who telephoned the police to file a complaint.
Further investigation is underway.
