The population of Nepali people in Australia has increased by 123.7 percent in the past five years | Ratopati

KATHMANDU, June 28: The latest data provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics has shown that the number of Nepali people has increased by 67,752 which is 123.7 percent in the past five years.

The largest increase in countries of birth, outside Australia, was India with 220,000 (217,963) additional people counted.

Besides, the 2021 Census has found that almost half of Australians have a parent born overseas (48.2 percent) and the population continues to be drawn from around the globe, with 27.6 percent reporting a birthplace overseas.

The Census shows that Australia has welcomed more than one million people (1,020,007) into Australia since 2017.
