Flood in Morang sweeps away one person, displacing 175 families

Biratnagar, June 28

A total of 175 families have been displaced in Biratnagar and Katahari districts due to incessant rain and flood in Singhiya River.

According to Deepak Shrestha, DSP, District Police Office, Morang, 45 families have been displaced in Biratnagar and 130 in Katahari. He says that 25 families have been displaced in Biratnagar-8 and 20 in Biratnagar-2.

Shrestha says that those displaced due to flood have been shifted to safer places. Police have urged those having settlements beside the river to be vigilant as the rain still continues.

According to Shrestha, one person died in Sundarharaicha municipality due to the flood. DSP Shrestha said Ram Bahadur BK, 55, of Sisaughari in Sundarharaicha-6 died in the flood.

BK’s body was found in the morning while it was being washed away by the Gachhiya River on Sunday.
