Children aged 5-11 get their first dose of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine on Thursday

Kathmandu, June 23

The government has begun to give the first dose of vaccine against Coronavirus to children aged 5-11 on Thursday. It has made arrangements to vaccinate the children in the school where they are studying.

Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is being given to the children. The government has asked health officials to make sure they administer two doses of 0.2 ml each. 

Basanta Adhikari, chief of the District Health Office, Kathmandu says that the vaccine has been 91 per cent effective and urges to use it with confidence.

In the first phase, the first dose will be given in 27 districts including Kathmandu Valley from June 23 to 29 and the second dose will be given from July 18 to 24.

For the rest of the districts, the Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to administer the first dose from August 21 to 27 and the second dose from September 13 to 17.
