Butwal mud mound collapse kills 2

Butwal, January 20

Two persons died after being buried by a mud mound in Butwal, Rupandehi of Lumbini, on Wednesday evening.

Ganesh Thapa (32) and Shiva Thapa (17) were warming themselves by sitting next to a fire on the bank of the Tinau river when they were buried by the mound, according to police.

Five persons have sustained injuries in the accident, of which two died, informs the Butwal Area Police Office.

Three others–Keshav Puri (23), Ashok Gaha (32) and Salim Ali (33)–have sustained injuries in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at the Butwal-based Lumbini Provincial Hospital.

Further investigation is underway.
