Kathmandu, January 19
The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 983,550 as of Wednesday afternoon.
The ministry said 11,352 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.
In this period, 18,078 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 9,502 returned positive. Likewise, 5,331 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,850 tested positive.
Of total tests, 52.06 per cent of the PCR and 34.70 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 48.49 per cent.
As of today, there are 47,929 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,414 are hospitalised, 169 in intensive care units and 28 on ventilators.
In the past 24 hours, 613 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.
Of the total cases so far, 818,160 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,628 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
